I'm an artist working in Melbourne, currently completing an undergraduate degree in physics at Swinburne University. My practice is an attempt to model nature, decoding the world by finding harmonies between subject and medium. My current work centres on textiles, using free motion embroidery to create unique stitched graphics of astrophysical phenomena.
Curiosity has led me to work with illustration, painting, textile art, animation, music and writing. Different media offer novel qualities of communication, and I want to share stories of science and science history using these methods. I have produced a documentary series on women in science, M Squared Science History.
I have a long history of contributing to the science community in Melbourne. I'm a founding member and current President of the Swinburne Physics & Outer Space Club, an undergraduate representative for the Swinburne Centre for Astrophysics and Supercomputing, an ex-committee member of Mount Burnett Observatory and a member of the local organising committee for the IAU conference Indigenous Astronomy In The Space Age.
As part of my role at CAS, I ran art workshops and co-curated an exhibition celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Apollo moon landings, in conjunction with Mount Burnett Observatory, Swinburne University and National Science Week.
In addition to my undergraduate degree, I have conducted research on Indigenous Astronomy, with a paper published in 2023 The Archaeology Of Orality. I have been awarded two research scholarships, modelling cosmological spectroscopic data to analyse the fine-structure constant, and to quantify the structure of the cosmic web using statistical mechanics techniques.
My artwork has been exhibited art in galleries and shopfronts around Melbourne.
